About Me

Who Is Tyla

So welcome to my page, I am Beverly, AKA Tyla, 20+ years ago I taught myself to sew. I started on the cute little panel prints for my daughter’s; dresses and stuffed animals. After a while, I decided that I wanted to try something a little more difficult, so I made a bodice for the renaissance fairs. I continued from there to dresses and cloaks for the fairs. This would become a passion for me. Of course, I did the craftsy things too. This hobby of mine continued even after I joined the United States Navy.

While in the service I was sent to Iraq. This ended my military career. I came back from Iraq and I was not the same person I was when I left. Besides the Physical issues, I, like so many of my military brothers and sisters came home with PTSD. I started sewing again as a distraction and to wear me out so that I could sleep at night. So with the encouragement of my husband, at the time, I decided to go back to school for therapy.

The school I went to was an hour and a half away from where I lived. So I commuted back and forth, from 2011- 2012 for my Associate Degree and then got apt in Dallas 2012-2013 for my Bachelor’s. I attended Wade College, in Dallas, Texas. If anyone wants to attend a fashion school I highly recommend this school, l loved it there, but I digress during my Associate’s Degree I earned my Phi Theta Kappa and during my Bachelor’s Mu Kappa Tau, both of these are Honor Society awards. During school I had begun branding myself under a different name, however, my name was taken by another person so I am now rebranding myself as Truely Tyla.
